REFLECTION is a contemporary fable that raises the question of what makes someone a monster, based on current society’s standards.  It tells the story of Anna, a young disfigured woman, who finds a sense of belonging through her involvement with a troupe of circus and burlesque performers.  Her dream comes true the day she decides to have plastic surgery, which grants her the opportunity to live a normal life.  She will quickly learn that good things don’t last when she ends up having to – literally – face her demons!

Maude Michaud started writing and directing short films at the age of 16.  Her first two shorts, FINDING HOPE and SPIRITS were presented as part of the official selection of the International Teen Film Festival in Toronto in 2001 and 2002.  She worked on over 15 short films and video projects, including 12 as a director, and was hired as a director of photography on the independent feature film, C.F.A.L. – CHANCE FOR ANOTHER LIFE, directed by Marc-Antoine Desjardins.  Some of her past works have screened at the Young Cuts film festival and she was a finalist for the Jeunes Cinéastes contest in 2004, winning a prize for Best Original music.  Her two most recent shorts, RECESSED and COMPLEX MODEL were showcased as part of the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007 and were part of the official selection of the 2008 Wreck-Beach Film Festival.  In her free time, she also writes, acts and works as a photographer.
